The world is losing many great musicians every year -- today, the family of drummer Louie Bellson announced his death (http://louiebellson.info/news.html); David "Fathead" Newman died in January (www.davidfatheadnewman.com).
The song says if there's a rock and roll heaven, then you know they've got a hell of a band, but I'd want to see the after-hours jams the jazz guys are puttin' on!
